A Life of Deceit: An Interview with Robin Hood
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Robin Hood is known all over England. Some may know him as a ruthless yeoman, while others praise his good doings to the poor.

Hello Robin Hood, everyone at The Knightly Herald are ecstatic for you to take time off and join us! Let us start with knowing where you were born and where you are know living. Of course Mirabella, it’s truly an honor to be here. And where I was born? My birthplace is located in Loxley, Sheffield which is in Southern Yorkshire. Now, I cannot reveal my current location, I mean, I already have enough of King John’s sheriffs and knights at the end of my tail. It seems you don’t appreciate, much less like, King John. Why is that? Look at you, you’re wealthy. You can have anything you wanted. But, look at everyone out that window. You see that man herding his sheep? He probably doesn’t even have enough money to care for his family. You see those kids? Look at them work, and not playing. They aren’t enjoying their youth because they don’t have enough money. To make matters worse, King John is taking more of their pay from his absurd amount of taxes. He is using that money for a war that is useless in so many ways and for his own luxuries. He is a greedy and selfless man. I see, leading into your supposed “ruthlessness,” how long ago since this thievery started? I would say around the time King John’s brother, King Richard, left for the Third Crusade. I was relatively close to King Richard. I was a great aid to him, but then King John came in and everything changed. Not only for me, but for the citizens of England. Is there a certain thrill on stealing for the rich and giving it the less fortunate? There is no thrill when you are doing an act of kindness to the ones who need it. I think you only get a thrill when you do something that is forbidden because you knew you did something bad and you may get caught. For I am doing good not bad. I feel without my Merry Men and I, the ones who feel the the wrath of King John’s selfishness will be wiped out. They will have nothing left without us. I think some people will disagree about you saying you do good. But, do you ever feel bad that you steal from the rich? At times. I mean, the rich really have no part in King John’s greed. Yet, there are some people who take the wealth for granted and deserve it. Only if King John just changed his ways everything will be ok. But no, he had to make everyone suffer. _____________________________________________________ |
I understand, is it risky to be doing what you are doing?
Of course! I never know if I could be killed or put in jail. At least let me die or get caught in honor. That is a great statement you just made there. How do you think the peasants feel about all this you are doing for them? I hope they appreciate the work the Merry Men and I have been doing. They all deserve to get back what was taken from them. They worked all their lives to build a foundation for the life they want. But, they had it snatched away. It is a tragedy I tell you. Have you ever killed anyone while doing your job? They all received what they deserve. How does your wife, Maid Marian, feel about all this. She is indeed part of the Merry Men, she is the only exception as a women to join. My dear Marian agrees that what we are doing is right to the fullest extent. But, she fears I may be harmed in the process. It would be devastating if I was gone due to my acts. Yet, I hope Maid Marian continues on to do what I did until all is restored in England. It was the greatest pleasure for you too join us, but I have one more question. How do you want society to change? First, I want everyone to see how too much power is not good and that a person should not let another uphold their decisions in life. Next, I would appreciate if everyone had the courage to stand up and get what is right and theirs! Finally, I hope their is a control on who rules and everyone gets on say on who will rule. So it may not be a ruler who rules with force and will. That is what I want onto a change in society. And my dearest Mirabella, it was amazing being here and I hope people will get onto what I am trying to do here. _____________________________________________________ |
Party Rock into the Church Tonight!
|
Shocker? Clearly! Luckily, we gained access to the abbey and it was covered, bottom to top, with streamers. The furniture was turned upside down and the stench of sweat and alcohol was unbearable. While we were examining the mess in came the nuns and priests guilty of hosting this party. None wanted to talk to us, but the disgrace that was their current emotion were clearly visible. The irony to it all, is that we did see that they came to pack up their stuff. More or less, their bibles.

The Black Death: When Disease Became the Ruler of All...
|
The symptoms of the disease, formally known as Yersinia pestis, caused an infection of the lymph glands, nausea, dizziness, respiratory failure, and severe headaches. As said by a survivor named Algernon Bartram:
“ I was a child when I contracted this horrific disease. I was around the age of twelve and it was horrible. My legs would have these horrid swelled up buboes on my neck and legs, they hurt so much it was like a fire was set on the affected areas. Then I would have these headaches. The headaches were so painful I would pass out. Then there were nights where I would dream and all of a sudden in the dream I wouldn’t be able to breathe. Then, I would wake up and find out I wasn’t actually breathing! My mother and father would scramble around to find out ways to help me. But here I am, sixty two years old and healthy. Who knew I would survive!” The amount of people who died was plentiful. It killed between seventy five million to two hundred million people. Luckily, the plague ended after two long years. And ever since Europe has been rebuilding. We all have taken a chance to understand how we all should be careful about our hygiene and taking care of ourselves. And there is one thing all people wish, that it never happens again... _____________________________________________________ |
Why are women suppose to cover out? We wear layers and layers of clothes. (Really, no skin can be seen!) To make matters worse, it can get very hot! Yes, we should not reveal so much for it is sin, but the men, they can take off their shirts if work gets too hard and hot. While we have to wear heavy dresses and shirts under those dresses.
We went around town asking the towns women what they think. One response from a lady named Airebella said, “It’s ridiculous, I would like to wear something shorter and lighter because with all the work we have to do, such as clean our houses, feed the animals, and garden, the heavy duty dresses just won’t do! It’s not like we are wearing mini skirts and tube tops!” I certainly agree with that. A more appropriate attire for those hot days would certainly be shorter skirts and sleeveless shirts. But, there are people who oppose this. While we went around not only did we meet Airebella but, a man named Aiercus: _____________________________________________________ |
“I certainly don’t like this nonsense! Women are fragile creatures who should not be exposed like that. It’s like they are inviting Satan into their own bodies! It’s a sin I tell you! And if it does happen, let us hope that the priests excommunicates all you women!”
Well, everyone has different views to this. But, what do you think? _____________________________________________________ Maze Fun!Can you go from start to finsih?
