Shall we keep ourselves dirt free and clean; is it a necessity to bathe daily? The big question going around, “Will cleanliness help prevent us from catching the plague?”, has yet to be answered. Researchers haven’t found any hard evidence to prove or disprove that having good “hygiene”, will help keep you healthy.
My family is one of the very few who believe in good hygiene, the effects of that have shown clearly. My grandfather is now currently 55 years of age; I believe that is a considerable lifespan in this dark age. We now have soap and bathing materials to help keep ourselves clean and healthy.
It has recently been discovered that soap and water alone can remove about 90 percent of bacteria. This will lessen the chance of germs spreading, so having good hygiene must be beneficial! Even the lords and ladies in the castles now use a more convenient waste drop/hole.
What kind of horse is the best? by Nalin Naranjo
There are many kinds of horses used nowadays for different purposes. All of us have seen one, they are everywhere! They help us do everyday activities as well as other things. The names of the types of horses are the destrier, courser, rouncey, jennet, and the hobby.
Of all the different kinds of horses, the rouncey is the most versatile horse for most lifestyles. It can do most jobs such as being a riding horse or a war horse. It is less costly as the valued destrier but is, like said earlier, more versatile.
Although the destrier may be beautiful and well trained, it is not an all purpose horse and is only used for battle. They are valuable for war though and are well suited to battle. Even though the destrier is a great horse for jousts, they are not too common.
The courser is used for battle since they were agile and they are also used for hunting. The palfrey is used for riding and can be as costly as the destrier. Many nobles like this type of horse. The jennet is a small and quiet horse used for riding that are popular among women. A hobby is a small, light, agile horse that is popular for skirmishes and light cavalry.
The most versatile horses of these types are the rouncy, hobby, and courser. They can be used in many ways. If you need a horse that can be used for many things, get these types of horses. Although they may not be as well suited for war as the stunning destrier, they are suitable to get the job done. These horses are the most all-purpose horse you can get.
Are Ladies Worthy of Jousts? April 7th, 1481 by Lady Lynessa
A joust of Sir Winifred and Sir Quinn, who was later discovered to be Lady Ariana.
PARIS, FRANCE- Three moons ago, Sir Winifred lost a joust to Lady Ariana! Outrage and controversial opinions have broken out at the arena due to many bets being placed on Sir Quinn, since it wasn’t Sir Quinn at all. After much investigating, it was discovered that somehow Lady Ariana disguised herself as Sir Quinn and fooled us all in the joust. Much to our surprise, she won! Nobody knows what has happened to Sir Quinn, although their are rumors of his kidnapping simply because Lady Ariana, along with many others, wanted to make a statement. Now that the confusion has died down, we are forced to face the conclusion that ladies are worthy of the joust, as we have seen in this example.
Since the 10th century, we have allowed and enjoyed jousting by knights/lords, as a structured, organized sport meant as entertainment and a chance to show skill. Anyone, usually thousands, can watch a joust. It tends to be held on bigger occasions, and has a chance of injury, yet is worth the risk. Participants typically use a lance as a weapon. Heralds organize the jousts, challenges are sent to the knights, and contestants are ranked in order of skill. Often large amounts of money will be bet on the contestants of a joust.
Ladies are more than capable of participating in jousts for a number of reasons. First, ladies should be treated somewhat equally to men. Ladies can take care of and even fight for themselves if the time is necessary. In the same way, ladies should be allowed to do sports, including the joust, simply out of the desire to demonstrate technique in both physical aspects and in mental strategies. According to survey done by adult women, one out of three would be interested in at least trying a joust. That is 5% more than the amount of men participating in jousts currently. Not only are ladies capable, ladies are also very willing, if not more willing than knights and lords. Third, the idea of ladies in joust is approved by a number of respected men- Lord Estienne, Lord Guarin, and Lord Piers, all having been in over 30 jousts throughout their lifetimes.
Without allowing and encouraging ladies to be in jousts, our recreational time will remain boring with the same lords and knights every time. Also, we will slowly die down as a society because of a failing economy since the jousts will be very predictable without ladies in them, making us always know who to bet on. Not only will we have had a failing economy, we will have failed as a society to make life for people of both genders live happily and peacefully knowing their are no limits to what they can do with their lives.
I have not simply told you my opinion on the matter, but the right way to live. All I ask is that you join us in a protest at the arena two days from now demanding for change and fair way of life for women. With enough of us there, we will not only be able to feel we have stated what we believe is right, but we will know we have made a meaningful impact on the lives of men and women throughout the world.
The Rights of Servants by Sir John of Canterbury
My dear friend, Lord Markett the Brave, has confessed to me that his servants are complaining of the fact that they do not get to sit with the royal family or eat the same food with them at dinner. They are really upset by this fact, and are beginning to demand better treatment or are threatening to leave the castle. This kind of disobedience is not acceptable! Peasants and servants need to accept that there is a set class system in this day and age and that it will not be changed because some lowly villagers want it to. Throughout British history, there has been a set class system, and this was told to us by the Almighty God that ultimately leads us.In this way, Kings have always ruled over the lands, with barons and lords second to them, and knights next in the ranks. After them come the merchants, craftsmen, and villagers who work for their daily bread. After them come the lowlifes who work for the rest of us, including servants in a castle and peasants who live in the streets. This is how it has always been and should always be. Some, including the servants themselves as well as their filthy protectors, may try to convince you that we should all be equal. I even heard one man say once that “All men were created equal,” but obviously he is wrong, and thankfully, he was beheaded. Some may also say that if we treat them better, the servants and peasants will work better for us. However, this is definitely not the case! Servants and peasants should be controlled by force, and only force, so as to establish leadership! They must know that we are supreme, and they must follow our laws or they will be severely punished! Clearly, this is the case, and it must be enforced, no matter what others try to convince you of! If the servants and peasants are not properly controlled, then our whole country will country will come to madness. Our class system will be upset, and the balance of our beautiful nation will be forever lost! These foul ideas are poisoning our nation and creating a template for other lowlifes to use! They pave the way for more of their kind, or others to complain! Who wants to listen to them? Who cares, anyway? This riot must be stopped, or our lovely Britain will come to ruin. You can help, too. Spread the word. Make sure your servants and neighboring peasants know their rightful place in society. Know in your heart that we are above and that they will live below without complaint or suffer due consequences. Help us in quieting the upset stomach that is growing in Britain, so that we may all feel better.
