On March 22, 1100, a plague has infested the land. Killing anything it touches. Those who are trapped within the kingdom of King Matthew are finished for the plague will not stop until it has “cured” the kingdom most say. Few tried to find cures, while most corralled the inhabitants of Matthews Kingdom and trapped them like wild animals. Now they just watch as the plague kills those inside. Most feel pity for those inside but are too afraid to help. To scared to help for the plague would be released and spread until there is no one left. To scared to help the dying. “The day of reckoning has come and with it the death of man, for no sin is forgotten or unpunished.” said Preacher Jones.
But I am not one of those people. The people who fear problems. Who wait for things to be done for them, to expect things to be done for them. I am the one who will act, who will save my people. So often they expect me to and why would I stop now. Why would I, how could I deny a dying person, a dying people. Especially when they are my people, the people who I rule. After all I am King Matthew.
During this plague I was away from the Kingdom, the very place I swore to protect. And now the people suffer all because I left them to talk about politics. To talk about what could make trade and traveling more efficient, how I could make money. Now look at my people, trapped like animals and treated the same. They have been trapped by surrounding kingdoms and shot on site, all because I was greedy. But now is not the time to live in the past, to regret my mistakes. But now is the time to act, for my father had always taught me “ To not live in the past, but learn from it.” and this I shall do.
I have gathered all the men I could for money was not a problem but rather time. I have a hundred of my finest men. Those who will stand behind them are 200 mercenaries who will do anything for money, especially when it comes from the King. Behind all of them are farmers and hunters. Who are not skilled in hand to hand combat but rather archery. Not a an army to match fear but a force to be reckoned with none the less.
We marched to my kingdom in a matter of days. Before heading in we formed a plan to storm the barricades. All archers would stand back and the rest would march forward shields up in a phalanx position. We took the full brunt of the attack but while they were distracted and out in the open the archers opened fire quickly killing all in rapid succession. We then destroyed the barricade and marched in. We had lost no men but no the less we were still cautious. We saw my Castle within minutes, standing tall with graves in front of it. All the flags had been burned down and all forms of protection gone. Even the walls seemed to break with every step we took. We walked in hoping to find people alive and well. But we found none, only the remains of a once beautiful place.
But there was no time for sorrow, for a horn had been heard outside the castle walls. I went on top of one of the nearly breaking castles and I saw an army marching towards us. But not what we expected. We had the archers stack up on the walls and the warriors take up positions on the wall and gate. I readied the archers for a volley one after another. We expected the enemy to form a defensive position but instead they rushed us. The archers began their volleys, our enemies fell one after another. But when one seemed to die he just got back up. In an instant they were climbing the crumbling castle walls. It was that moment I saw their faces decayed and rotting, flesh peeling off and revealing bone. I saw one of men thrust his sword into one of them. But it did not bleed nor did it fall. It only pulled the sword deeper. and with the sword came the soldier. With one slash he was dead and the abomination continued.
I ordered a retreat to my palace for we had lost many men. We had gone from 300 warriors and 100 archers to 120 warriors and 25 archers.. When we reached my palace. We barricaded all doors and windows and began a search for a way out instead we found my people, scared and dying. There and then i knew the plan. 50 of my best fighters came with me to the front door. On my word the barricades were removed and we charged the unprepared enemy. We fought to the center of town. Where we formed our phalanx and stood our ground. The rest of my people sneaked by the enemy and over the castle walls. As I saw the last of them get over. I gave the word and my men within the phalanx jumped over the shields and began a ferocious last stand. My men beside me we fought till there were none of us left. When we struck one down another would come, while the other got up on his feet.
Nonetheless we kept fighting, knowing we would die. The enemy broke through one of our lines. Then began cutting through the men who had their backs turned fighting a different enemy. I ran to help my men but as soon as I lifted my sword a sudden rush of pain came to me and my sword dropped. I saw a blood red sword go through me and then get pulled. Then it was over. My eyes shut as I fell on the ground, all I could see were my men still fighting but quickly getting surrounded and overpowered. I died knowing my people were safe.

After three years, in a treacherous tower, Princess Penelope was saved by our very own Sir Quincy.
The King of Hult, was devastated for three years, after his daughter was taken by a group of men. After years and years of trying to look for her location, he found it. Knowing that he couldn’t trust anyone but, Sir Quincy, he sent his most trusted night towards the tower. Sir Quincy accepted the challenge. But before he left the kingdom, he wondered what his prize would be, for finding the Princess. The King thought of the only thing that mattered to him most, his daughter, Princess Penelope. “I thought the best thing to do..since I couldn’t trust anybody else, was to give him my daughter’s hand.” That’s what he did. Sir Quincy, accepted his gift, and set off to the tower.
He had left with only a sword, horse, and shield. It took a total of three days for the Knight to find the Princess’s tower. When he got over to the castle, he saw three men sitting in the front of the tower, and blocking the entrance. Sir Quincy being brave and noble, fought of the evil men, and brought the princess back home.
The new Prince and Princess, will be getting married as of next week. They are inviting all of the kingdom to celebrate the beauty of young love!
