The BIack Death Sweeping Across Europe-Victoria Darcy In this past spring the plague spread to Europe. It killed one third of Europe’s population, killing around 25-50 million people there. In total about 75 million people were killed from the black death. In Europe the telltale signs of the plague were swellings in the groin and or armpit; whereas beginning signs of the plague in the East were nosebleeds. These bumps quickly spread all over the body, they eventually also turned purple or black. The bumps could be big or little, in a few places, or all over. Very few people survived the plague, most died within around three days of getting it. Either there was no antidote or the doctors weren’t smart enough to figure one out. The plague spread like wildfire. It was extremely contagious; an article of clothing that an infected person had worn could cause another to become ill. To talk to or go near a person with the plague could infect another person. Some people isolated themselves to avoid catching the disease whereas others went around tavern to tavern and kept a carefree mindset. After the plague ran its course the disease died with the last infected person. There was no found cure, at one point though they started to put bricks on the windows and doors of the infected people. This helped to eliminate the disease. CIassified Ads

Skirmishes With France Reach 100 Years!-Orton
All of you out there who have had children within the past hundred years should have noticed that there is a bit of a crisis. If you have a son, you may have noticed that he got drafted into the King’s army when he turned five. If you had a daughter you may remember (or be experiencing) that you had (or have been having) an extremely difficult time attempting to marry her off (to someone below the age of 80, because you don’t want to be caught paying for a wedding and a funeral within the same month). But, if you don’t have any children, and you didn’t notice how all of your nephews keep getting sent away, or that your taxes have been raised so high that you’re living in debtors prison, then this article was made for you. Newsflash “France and England have been at war for a hundred years!” (Yes you old hermit living on Scafell Pike, I’m talking (writing) about you!) It’s official now; HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE SKIRMISHES! We here at The Peasant Weekly wanted to buy party hats but that’s out of our budgets with all the new tax increments. You’ve all noticed (I hope) the devastating effects of having ongoing skirmishes with another country over the course of 100 years (and counting); such as you aren’t capable of reading this and all your kids are being taught archery instead of math. Perhaps you’ve also noticed that you’re being forced to pay more tax than product cost to own this splendid copy of The Peasant Weekly. Why does our king make us go through all of this in his name? The answer is politics. Our king launched a campaign to claim the French Throne. He still hasn’t succeeded, obviously, otherwise we wouldn’t still be at war. Although we dominated the beginning of the skirmishes, recently France seems to have gained a newfound ferocity, however we have no reason to believe that they will continue with their momentum. We are all praying for an end to the war, no matter who comes out on top. One last time, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” to the war. |
Death On Every Corner-Lady Marie
Imagine walking down the street, and every third person that you saw collapsed on the floor, and died. Well, this is what it is like here in England. The Black Death (which later was named the Bubonic plague) doesn’t have any vaccines or medicine that can cure the illness. If you have the plague, there is a 50% chance that you are going to die. A third of the population has died. Over 20 million people here in England, have died, from this plague. What can we, as citizens, do about it? Well, we will just have to wait and see if this terrible thing will ever end on its own. The smells are horrible! Thanks to those filthy rats, the whole town smells of rotten flesh, and dead meat. Not to mention all of the ash in the sky, because of the burning of the houses filled with dead families. Don’t even get me started on those blood sucking mosquitoes that run around our villages passing on disease from person to person. The village next to this town has been completely wiped out because of those flying insects. Most people don’t even think the worst has begun. But at this rate, how could anything be worse than this! At this moment there is no hope. The people can only pray things will get better. That’s all they can do on their death beds; pray to god, asking forgiveness, so that all of their sins may be washed away before they die. These people need saving, and they need it soon! Or soon enough, there will be nobody left to save. |
